The Van Dyk Park community is mourning the reported death of Jessica Rabe, 20, after her body was recovered during a search for two young people who had been missing since July. Rabe was reported missing at Dawn Park SAPS on July 27, alongside Yudistan Pillay, 25. According to Wendy Pascoe of Pascoe Investigations and Missing in Southern Africa, information had indicated that the pair had been travelling on foot between Van Dyk Park and Farrar Park. Their disappearance prompted an extensive community search, with missing-person flyers circulated through local community groups, including the Van Dyk Park Community Patrollers Initiative and Boksburg 911. On August 28, information obtained during the investigation was handed to SAPS, leading to a search and recovery operation at a property on Wildevy Street. SAPS Search and Rescue members and the Forensic Pathology Unit were deployed to the property. Shortly after 6 p.m. on August 30, Rabe’s body was recovered after she was found partially buried beneath the house. Her next of kin positively identified her. The cause of Jessica Rabe’s death has not yet been established, and authorities have not released further details concerning the circumstances of her death. Three suspects have been arrested as investigations continue, with further arrests reportedly expected. Following confirmation of Rabe’s death, a message shared with the community expressed sincere condolences to her family and friends and thanked those who helped circulate her missing-person flyer. Her death has left those who knew her grieving a tragic loss. Family, friends and members of the Van Dyk Park community now await answers as investigators continue working to establish what happened. May Jessica Rabe rest in peace.
