Leah Carrick, a young woman from East Wall, Dublin, has died following a tragic single-vehicle collision in Ballycoolin earlier this week. Her death has left her family, friends and wider community mourning a life lost suddenly.

The crash happened shortly before 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, in Ballycoolin, Dublin 15, between the Snugborough Road and Cappagh Road roundabouts.

Emergency services attended the scene, but Leah, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead a short time later.

Leah’s death notice described her as the beloved daughter of Alyson and sister of Jamie and Rachel. She was also deeply loved by her nanny Anne, cousin Gemma, aunt Cali and her husband Miley, extended family members and a wide circle of friends.

Friends remembered Leah for her beautiful smile, sense of humour and caring personality, with one former schoolmate describing her as someone who brought light and laughter to those around her.

Garda Investigation

Gardaí and emergency services responded to the collision during the early hours of Wednesday.

The crash scene was preserved for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, while the road was closed and local traffic diversions were put in place.

The Coroner was notified, and a post-mortem examination is expected to assist with the investigation.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone who witnessed the collision or may have travelled through the area around the time of the incident to come forward. They are particularly seeking available camera or dashcam footage.
