Nick Muffitt Obituary, North Halton, ON Death – Girls Hockey Community Mourns Beloved Coach

The North Halton girls hockey community is mourning the sudden passing of Nick Muffitt, a dedicated coach whose commitment to young athletes made a lasting impression on the Twisters organization.

Nick coached with the North Halton Girls Hockey Association for more than six years, working with both House League and Rep teams. Over the years, he regularly volunteered his time across multiple teams, serving as both a parent and non-parent coach.

His dedication was formally recognized when he was named Twisters Coach of the Year for the 2023–24 season. He was also preparing to return this season as a non-parent coach for both the U18B and U22A teams, reflecting the important role he continued to play within the association.

Remembering Nick Muffitt

Nick was remembered as a coach who went well beyond the ordinary responsibilities of the position. He frequently spent additional time working with players, helping them develop their abilities and confidence.

For Nick, coaching was about more than hockey. He believed in developing strong athletes while also helping young players become strong people. That approach earned him the respect and affection of players, families, fellow coaches and everyone connected with the Twisters.

The association said the outpouring of love and support following his sudden passing demonstrates the significant impact Nick had on the lives of those around him.

His daughter, Gwen, was also a longtime Twister player, making his connection to the organization especially personal. The hockey community is now remembering both the coach who gave so much of his time and the father whose loss has left an enormous void for his family.

The North Halton Girls Hockey Association has extended its deepest condolences to Nick’s family, friends, daughter Gwen and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Nick’s legacy will continue through the players he coached, the lessons he shared and the many lives he influenced during his years with the Twisters.

His sudden passing has left the North Halton hockey community heartbroken, but the dedication, encouragement and kindness he brought to the rink will remain part of the memories shared by generations of Twisters players and families.
