Rasheme Bridges, Known as Benji Bam, Dies After Shooting

The St. Louis music community is mourning the death of Rasheme Bridges, a 26-year-old rapper known professionally as Benji Bam or Bam, who died after a shooting Thursday evening, August 27, 2026, in the Wells-Goodfellow area.

According to police information, the incident began after a collision involving a minivan and a Toyota traveling southbound on Goodfellow Boulevard, south of the Natural Bridge Avenue roundabout.

Gunfire broke out following the crash.

Bridges suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Who Was Benji Bam?

Rasheme Bridges was known in St. Louis’ rap community by the name Benji Bam. Federal records from 2019 identified Bridges as “Bam” or “Benji Bam” and associated him with fellow St. Louis rapper Kelton Rucker, also known as “Kellz” or “Benji Kellz.”

The two performed together as the Benji Brothers.

Federal prosecutors identified Bridges as 19 years old in 2019, meaning he would have been approximately 26 at the time of his reported death in 2026.

His connection to St. Louis music was established years before the shooting, and his death has prompted grief among people familiar with his work and the local hip-hop scene.

Police Investigate Goodfellow Shooting

The response to the shooting was reportedly swift. Officers and federal ATF agents were nearby conducting an unrelated traffic stop when they heard the crash followed by gunfire.

Investigators found two damaged vehicles and Bridges critically injured.

At least two people were initially detained as detectives worked to determine what led to the confrontation and who was responsible for the shooting.

Police were also reviewing surveillance footage and other evidence to reconstruct the sequence of events.
