BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — The Brooklyn community is mourning the death of Konstantin Gerantidi, 17, who was killed in a devastating crash on the Belt Parkway late Tuesday night, August 25, 2026.

According to the information provided, the collision occurred at approximately 11:35 p.m. on the eastbound Belt Parkway near 65th Street in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn. A Cadillac Escalade carrying five people collided with a Honda HR-V carrying two women.

The Escalade overturned during the crash, leaving three teenage boys critically injured. Konstantin Gerantidi, 17, was among those transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died. Authorities also identified the other victims as Huzayfah Algaheim, 18, and Rehman Abdul, 16.

The deaths have left families and friends facing the devastating loss of three young lives. Konstantin’s death, coming at just 17 years old, has brought particular sadness to those who knew him and were familiar with his life.

Two other people who were traveling inside the Escalade survived and were hospitalized in stable condition. The two women in the Honda were also taken to the hospital with injuries and were reported to be in stable condition.

Preliminary information indicates the Cadillac was traveling eastbound when it approached slower traffic and braked before the Honda struck the SUV from behind. The impact sent the Escalade into the guardrail, where it spun and overturned.

The Belt Parkway was partially closed while emergency crews and investigators worked at the scene.
