Josh Dunham Obituary, Ontario, Canada Death – Family and Friends Mourns Beloved

The family and friends of Joshua Daniel Dunham are mourning his passing on Thursday, August 20. Remembered as thoughtful, intelligent, hilarious, kind and deeply empathetic, Josh leaves behind a family and community grieving the loss of someone described as truly one of a kind.

Josh was a beloved brother to Abby, Emily, Steve, Becky, Dominic and the family member sharing his tribute. His siblings remembered the laughter he brought into their lives, saying it was difficult to spend even a few minutes with him without hearing a funny story or laughing at something he had said.

He was also a much-loved son to Faith and Mike and a cherished uncle to Theo, Ivy, Macy, Max, Noah, Hope, Forrest, Archie and Oliver.

Josh adored his nieces and nephews, and they loved him in return. He enjoyed playing video games with them, giving enormous hugs and listening carefully to what they had to say. His family remembered how he treated children with genuine respect, making them feel that their thoughts and feelings mattered.

Josh also shared a meaningful relationship with Tom, whom he spoke about with tremendous affection after meeting him the previous year. His family expressed gratitude that Josh experienced such love and happiness.

Music was another major part of Josh’s life. He graduated from Western University with a music degree in 2021 and played several instruments, including piano, guitar and French horn. He also enjoyed experimenting with unusual instruments, including the ocarina.

An avid reader and passionate learner, Josh had an impressive ability to remember information and countless unusual facts. Friends and family often found themselves amazed by the things he knew.

Josh was also deeply committed to justice, equality and compassion. He was part of the LGBTQ+ community and a passionate ally, particularly advocating for transgender people and marginalized communities. He cared deeply about the dignity and rights of others.

His friends remembered him as an exceptional listener with an extraordinary memory for the people in his life. He paid attention to the details that mattered to others and made people feel genuinely understood, valued and cared for.

Celebration of Life

A celebration of Josh’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 28, at the Lakeside Pavilion at Pinafore Park in St. Thomas, Ontario.

The family has asked attendees not to feel obligated to wear black. Because Josh loved bright colours, guests are encouraged to wear whatever feels appropriate and reflects the spirit of the celebration.

His loved ones are also inviting anyone who knew Josh to share a story or memory about him. Whether funny, meaningful or simply a small moment that has stayed with someone, these memories will help his family preserve the impact he had on so many lives.

Josh Dunham will be remembered for his humor, intelligence, compassion, creativity and extraordinary ability to make people feel seen and loved. His family and friends will carry those memories with them as they navigate the profound loss of someone they considered irreplaceable.
