ERIE, PENNSYLVANIA — The Erie community is mourning the loss of Gary Knott, a respected first responder, devoted husband, loving father and talented artist whose life was defined by service, family and kindness.

Gary was remembered by those who knew him as much more than a dedicated Trooper and first responder. He was a proud husband to CarrieMarie Knott and a devoted father who took immense pride in his daughters and their accomplishments. Friends recalled how his face would light up whenever he spoke about his family.

His admiration for his wife was equally evident. Gary appreciated her talents, accomplishments and ability to balance the many demands of life. That appreciation reflected the deep importance family held for him.

Gary also found a meaningful outlet through art. He was a talented artist who created handmade pieces that became treasured possessions for people who received them. His artwork represented his creativity and generosity, leaving behind another lasting part of his legacy.

Service to others was another defining feature of Gary’s life. As a first responder, he was someone people could depend on when help was needed. Friends often spoke about his dedication with affection, including a lighthearted joke that even his address had been “911.”
